Postby Pat Davis » Fri Feb 21, 2003 9:28 pm

Name says it all.
Personally, I think the new Board is fantastic! But, some members expressed consern about having to register or type a password.

So, any coments so far? Good, Bad, Indifferent

I don't mind the registration process, we gain a lot of advantages, like private messages, pictures, url, etc....
Doesn't matter if we have to wait 10 mins to register, this forum is much better
And it has SMILIES ! :D :p
There are 10 kind of people, those who undertand binary and those who don't !

I do not know who had to take 10 minutes to register, I was registered and up in going in under 3 minutes, and I have this set up so that I do not have to do anything further.

For the first few minutes I was aprehensive about the new format but I can say that I really like this now.

I think it's great. No more idiots with fake addresses. Also, you can backspace and not look retarded with line skip like the old board. Posting pictures is nice too.

I like it, very similar to what I've been using at Fred's Place or Military.com for the past 4 years.

This is the format that almost everyone else is using so I am fine with it.

I think that this is great! I have been a proponent of this type of registration for a long, long time. It's great to see that the SC leadership is responsive to the members requests. Registration was simple and painless. Everyone is welcome, but you have to stand behind your own words. What more can you ask?

Thanks!

A superb site.
I can't see the problem with registering. Surely, there is nothing to fear in the process. To register is a sign of responsibility. Those who do not/will not register will be the loosers.

I have heard from two guys - not "computer people" - who are a bit confused by the new format. I suspect they'll get used to it after lurking for awhile.

it seems pretty user friendly once you get registered. i hope to figure out the photo features and the i.d picture some time soon. i havent yet. but i havent spent too much time here either.
they say a picture is worth a thousand words--that is SO true.
the price of digital cameras is so much less then it used to be-i hope the pictures make this change a good one for all of us.
the old site was very limited on visual communication.
Everyone is more charged up when they understand how things are done and can share the fun.
YOU GUYS DID A GREAT JOB MAKING A BETTER BOARD!
Best Regards,

Great website. Still trying to figure everything out. Guess
it will take me a while. I hope you have a section reserved
for those who like to express their anger towards members
so that it can be kept out of the sections RESERVED for
submarine information only!!!!!
I like the smiles available. :D

Great Board!
Much improved !!!!!!

Has many more features and benefits.

I think the registration requirement will eventually improve the quality of the board for all.

Why be concerned with a password being an inconvenience since you can elect to have it remembered for you so you do not have to type it in every time.

Just an FYI -

After filling out the registration form, the time it takes to get into the system is pretty instantaneous. However the time it take you to get your 'welcome mail' is dependant on internet mail traffic, mail traffic through your ISP, etc. so it could take several minutes.

If anyone is having problems, please send me mail and let me know! If I don't hear about it, I can't fix it :)

Thanks!

Albert,

Can I suggest that if you want to express anger with a SubCommittee member that it be done in private and dealt with properly as befitting civilised people.

All too often in the past public expressions of anger got out of hand with sides drawn up in battle lines. Not very edifying.

I saw some graffiti a while ago which said," The way to stay cool is not to bug those who are."

Hopefully we will all act as adults, express ourselves in a mature way and stay cool.

I really like the new format. The only thing I noticed is that it's not obvious how you move from "registered user" to "subcommittee member". For those who didn't tumble quickly, check out a seperate posting by Jeff.
