Revell Type VII - new forum

Have an idea for the web site?

I can see this new Revell Type VII will be talked about much and for a long time. What about a forum just for this kit?

:D Received my Revell-Germany 1/72 Type VII from internethobbies. :D Checked out the instructions, looks really great. Inspected the kit and found many damaged parts :( . I'm sure the damage was due to shipping and not from production, although I believe if Revell would have packaged the trees in individual bags and not just one large bag, there would have been much less damage to the parts. Many of the trees are broken, and all of the railings are shattered. Have the bow broken on the port side by lower torpedo shutter door. Starbord side has 1/4 inch broken off the bow at the very tip. The bag that contained the trees had many holes in it and most of the broken parts are in the box. " I HOPE " Will not know until I start construction. All in all still looks to be a very impressive kit. Well done Revell-Germany.

Wayne,

I've been.....resisting....this suggestion for some time now.

While most folks know that I am a big fan of the Type VII and would love to see a forum dedicated just to this one boat (note that I did not suggest that it be dedicated specifically to the Revell Type VII kit!), I think that there are potentially two problems with doing so:

1) The reasonable-to-expect increase in message traffic that will be dedicated to this kit is almost certainly to be a short-term thing. Does this make sense then to dedicate a forum to a single kit?

2) How many other boat or kit specific forums would folks then be requesting? Is the increase in forums something that is manageable from the perspective of a user of these forums?

Okay, that's my 2 cents worth....let's hear more commentary on this question. What does the membership think/want? (Come on, twist my arm! :D )

Hmm...
Jeff, maybe you are right. First, the board is pretty cool as it is.
Maybe going to something a little more general would work. Say a forum for WWII boats, another for Russian boats(you knew I would throw that in),another for all those other boats :D .Seriously, maybe one for American nukes, and one for the rest of the world's nuke subs.
Maybe I am overthinking it.Maybe not. The board works well anyway.
Yes, feedback folks! What do you think? Leave it alone? Tweek it? Speak up!!

I pondered it a while too.
we would like to snag a few people staying as a member..

but we have a forum for it : the static forum.

slap my writsts for starting the largest thread ever
in the wrong forum.
Jeff, if you can move my thread to the static forum,
this forum will be dominated by the revell boat (for a while)

whaduhyasay ?
Regards,

Ronald van Aalst
