Have an idea for the web site?

color of name in "last post"

Postby roedj » Wed Nov 25, 2009 2:06 am

Sirs,

Is there a significance to the color of the person's name in the "last post" column as in Firefox, at least, I see different colors. ? I ask because perhaps it could be used to give a better visual clue to recent activity. Right now we have to scan down through all the topics looking at the dates to see if any recent activity has occurred. Might it not be easier if the color could be used to indicate this? I am unfamiliar with the underlying code for the forum but in pseudo code it might look like this:

If [LAST ACTIVITY DATE] = [TODAY] then [NAME.COLOR] = red else
if [LAST ACTIVITY DATE] = [YESTERDAY] then [NAME.COLOR] = blue else
[NAME.COLOR] = black endif

or something like that. I'm just looking for all the help these tired ol' eyes can get.

Thanks for your time,

Dan

the colors indicate guests, paid members and SC officers.

for active postings, you might want to login, go to board index and click "view new posts" which shows you a list of all posts since your last logoff.

(that's how I found your post :) )

Ronald,
Curious about "who is online" at the bottom of the page. It seems to always show 'Registered users: Google [Bot], Larry Kuntz' when I'm online + whoever else is online. Why the 'Google [Bot]' listing?

only google knows...

Google has software automatically wandering over the internet, socalled bots, that
somehow make out how high your website shows up when you google for keywords.
it seems to like us a lot ;-)
