1/72 Gato Photoetch

Postby John @ WEM » Fri Aug 03, 2007 9:35 am

Peter Hall has just wrapped up the last of the 3 sets of PE for the big Revell boat.

PE 7241, 1/72 Gato Radars, will contain the following antennas and other parts:

Early SJ; late SJ-1; Early and Late SD; SS; SV; two types of DBU antennas; rectangular DF Loop in laminated sections; and, two wire antenna spreaders for the sides of the conning tower. Price of the set will be 4.21 Pounds.

The other two sets are PE 7240 Conning Tower Details (periscope shears, etc.), priced at 11.02 Pounds, and PE 7242 Prop Guards/Stern Details, priced at 8.47 Pounds.

The three sets can be purchased together as PE 7233, 1/72 Ultimate Gato Set, priced at 21.23 Pounds, more than a 10% saving over the price of the individual sets. All three sets will be replete with loads of relief etching. We should begin shipping them in about 3 weeks, with priority going to pre-orders. Images below:

Hi John,

I just responded to your thread on the SteelNavy Message board about Peter moving ahead with 1/144 versions. I now beg you on bended knee to do the radar set in 1/178. Here is the reason I could really use the SJ and SV parabolic reflectors:

The radar reflectors are the most important of the three sets to me and I think any one else who may be doing a Revell Lionfish.

Thanks for considering my requests.

SJ but no SV

The Nautilus Models 1/178 photoetch has the SJ, but has only the older SD omnidirectional antenna.

Thanks Tom,

I have the Nautilus PE and even the SJ is not that accurate. I like the way WEN has designed theirs and the fact that they also have a good looking SV.
