SubRon 5 hats - Who wants one?

Local Chapter covering Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska.

Guys,

We're trying to put together an order for "official" SubRon 5 ball caps in time for SubRegatta 06 and Sun N Fun.

Jeff has a vendor who made the EXTREMELY NICE cap he's sporting in the image below:

Image

It is a top quality embroidered product built to last. If you wear ballcaps you know the difference. Jeff even had his name embroidered across the back in yellow cursive (which I really like too). I'll work on posting a better image.

Who will want one? The bigger the order the better the price.
Warm regards,

Paul Crozier

This is cool. Now I'm excited about HATS. And I already have a collection! Paul's right though, the hats my local subvet buddy (Vietnam era) uses are exceptionally nice as ball caps go: fabric closure with sliding buckle -- no tacky plastic tabs for these bad boys! Paul knows the quality cuz he has one. Variety of colors available too, though I'm assuming Paul is thinking Navy blue (traditional). And this hat guy has the computer-assisted equipment to do exceptional embroidery -- yes, even the name across the back, which I also think is a good idea. I like "brush script" like bowling shirt names, but other fonts are available too. (Note: final order will not only thus require definitive quantity, but exact spellings -- nicknames, etc.? -- of all monikers desired.)

Paul, a question for you as keeper-of-the-flame: want the standard "metallic 5" SubRon 5 logo, or the alternate we came up with featuring a white numeral five, which was more obvious?

Jeff,

Yes, I'm partial to a blue cap. And it has been my experience that if you ask, they'll do a sample fo the embroidery to show you -- perhaps he'll let us see which one looks better (metallic v. white).
Warm regards,

I got a royal blue (subvet emblem) cap from this same guy and it's a nice color too. Perhaps a little cooler -- temperature-wise -- than Navy? Just a thought. I'll be seeing Dave at the next subvet meeting (two weeks) and can discuss our hat order with him in person. Maybe we'll have a better idea on quantity by then. And I'll definitely ask for emboiderery ideas/samples. Remember the logo patches you had? They featured solid silver text and "5" -- so that's a third alternative which might actually work best.

Later,
Jeff

What about a red cap? Something that really stands out in a crowd.

So far I think we can order at least 10. Some with names, some not.

Haven't heard from Paul in a few days, so decided to test the waters myself with the following. Hope that's okay with all parties.

Gentlemen (and 'RonMother Julie), we've completed our end-around and now approach firing position on SubRon 5's hat order. Having winnowed down our color choices, fellow polecats, a poll on caps:

Would you prefer . . .

a) Khaki -- definitely a military connection/feel
b) Light grey -- similar to athletic grey tees
c) Royal blue -- more on the traditional side

Please chime in below with your leanings. By the way, we've determined these lighter colors should show off the black and red of our logo better than would, say, red or navy blue. If you feel strongly about a color not listed however, let us know. Lastly, we ARE planning to have first names embroidered on the backs of these hats to show membership pride in our elite bubblehead group. (Stand at attention when you say that!)

Jeff,

I typed up a reply, but must've not sent it for some reason. Anyway, you did the right thing. To me, the lt gray sounds good. Who else has an opinion?

Hey guys,

Grey sounds good to me, Jeff! And I like the idea of the names across the back!

Cool -- that's two. Anyone else?

(Paul -- still looking for your SNF snailmail. Also, okay for you to haul the hats north? And are we going with logo sample #2?)
