Hi Andy & others,

I'm a newbie to subs, abandoning my surface fleet for a while.

I'm in the process of buying my first kit and am very interested in whats being proposed here.

One thing I may be able to help with is the fact that I currently hold my pool lifeguards certificate. It expires in March but I will be re doing it soon afterwards. The reason I mention it is because it may help lower costs if a venue insist on having 1 or more lifeguards there.

I look forward to hearing more soon,
Shane

Hi Shane,

Welcome to an interesting world!

The problem with a swimming pool venue wasn't so much the hire of the lifeguards, but the hire of the venue- far too much to make it viable at present.

Thanks for the offer though, and I'll bear you in mind for the future.

Thinking about this run, what makes a subregatta a subregatta as opposed to just a run? ???

As I understand it, The Sub Regatta is a once only annual main event held and organised by the Sub Committee directly.

Sub runs are generally organised by local chapters, and may or may not be a little less formal or grand.

Andy,

Thanks,

Paul.

I am still up for the post patrol bbq, as it is a long old drive back home!

Michael,
oh for the day when you are old enough for a chuckle and a beer on a Sunday afternoon!!! The only thing to do with a pond in Colney hatch lane is the pond life in the pub (was me once).
Just my little tease. Seriously, as I remember it is at Colney Heath in Hertfordshire :D

Okay Mike,
Colney Heath is in Herts. North of London. Colney Hatch Lane is in north London - just had visions of a bewildered lad standing there wondering where on earth you could actually put a sub, let alone sail it.
A cruel jibe at your expense - sorry.
Cruel but fair, as the pythons osed to say.

Paul,

I got it before, (I meant right as in "Right", "Ok", *stepping backwards slowly*, "don't make eye-contact", turn and RUN!!!!!)

Anyway, Andy'll log on in a minute and tell us to bring this back on topic.

For some reason we keep dragging threads off topic today :)
