Compressed air kits - more info needed

SubCommittee chapter in the Netherlands

Postby toneburst » Fri Jun 20, 2003 2:42 am

Hi,

my model of the Robbe U-47 is in the state that fixing the RC-stuff and testing of/experimenting with the ballastsystem is necessary. I've done some recce on the web to find info on compressed air kits, and so far only found http://www.robart.com/ . The air systems they sell look OK; trouble is to get them!
Anyone can give me more leads to equal or better systems that are sold in Holland?

Thanks,

Jos.

Toneburst,

I know a shop that sells them. I thought that they also do mailorders. Their site: www.rcworld.nl

Ask for Henk when you phone them. He is the expert on planes and technical gadgets.

Grtz,

Danny van Dijk

I have seen the robart kits (for plane landing gears)
with Quartel in Pijnacker.

Thanks people, good leads.
Now I'm only left with the question what tank to use (small, medium or large). One thing I have to keep in mind is the lack of space in the bow, exactly the place I would like to place the tank (against the front of the WTC, just above the central retaining screw). I've experimented with a little spraying can of 250ml here, and it fits without problem. I've read I need about 500-750ml of ballast to get the U submerged, so calculating with 250ml of compressed air at 100PSI this would leave me with 1.9l of uncompressed air. This would give me 3-4 complete ballasttank-clearings before having to refill.
Anyone having experience with the size of compressed air tanks and where to place'm?

Jos.

Thought it would be wise to add that.

Thanks,

Jos.

You might want to enlist in the german forum
SONAR is referring to (see their website www.sonar-ev.de)
because I have found a LOT of technical info there.

You have to be registered for it, will take a day or two,
but t is free.

Did you consider contacting Mr Deelder ? he is looking for
fellow robbe builders.
I have his e-mail if you are interested.

Ronald.

I definitely will 'enlist' to the SONAR forum. Luckily my German is OK. Thanks for the hint!
Would definitely like to get into contact with Mart Deelder. Pls send his emailaddress to me (directly) so I can throw him a note.
Btw...within an hour I will have the hull of the U47 assembled. About to glue the rear hull to the RC frame, with front and middle section already glued, filled, sanded & primed. I decided to go for assembly with the central retaining screw torqued to the max & O-ring installed to diminish the gap. Think this will do the job.
Pictures will be available on request later this evening.
