Here is the article of the Military Ship Regatta that was cut short in the June or The Report.
The Military Ship Regatta 2003 in San Francisco that is held each year jointly with the San Francisco Model Yacht Club will be on weekend later this year. Traditionally held the last weekend of September, this year will be moved forward one weekend. This year we will be running again for two days, the 4th and 5th of October.
This weekend works out this year to be a better time slot, and the regatta could now be a forerunner to the Fleet Week festivities that will run this year from October 8th through October 12th. Those wishing to say on a few extra days can always catch the Blue Angels practicing over the bay and City.
The legwork to secure and coordinate this event in Golden Gate Park is spearheaded by SubComMI member John Anderson who is also the Power Squadron Officer for the San Francisco Model Yacht Club.
The weekend may have changed, but not the pond. We will again be running in the crystal clear ponds of the San Francisco Casting Club. Cement lined, four feet deep, and roughly 50 yards square, they only need boats.
So you have an extra week this year to get your life and boat together, be there and beat the fleet to San Francisco!
