Well, yeah, Soviet submarines have their squadron numbers painted on the side, not the hull numbers! The Soviets have admitted to losing a submarine designted as K-129. Craven is skirting around issues that he can't talk about. The odd thing is he states, "It was news to me the first time I heard the submarine described as a Golf class submarine". There seems to be little doubt it was a Golf, and the Russians have never said otherwise, so I'm not sure what to make of those opaque statements.

My son & I just laid out the possibilities (rogue being one scenario) with the information we had dug up. We didn't indicate a preference for hypotheses.
