Hi all,
I have just completed testing of an R/C version of the 1/72 scale Type V11C model kit. I have had good luck with my testing and now have a fully operational submarine. The R/C installation is based on one of my Mini-Water Tight Cylinder (WTC) units that I have been running in my 1/144 Kilo all summer.
The submarine has five controls, front planes, rear planes, rudder, drive motors, and ballast system. I am using a RCABS (Recirculating compressed air ballast system) ballast system like I have in my Kilo WTC.
Due to encouragement from fellow members I have decided to make an Experimenters WTC kit available for sale on a limited basis. I call this an Experimenters kit because what I am including is the basic (WTC) and text on how I finished mine. I am also including a list of items I used in mine, and were I acquired them. I tried to use all off the shelf components in my design so it could be duplicated. The WTC can also be used as a basis for your own R/C operational design. Just starting with my basic WTC, and adding components of your choice.
This not a step-by-step how to kit, it is just to get you started with a proven design.
I had made an initial run of a few kits and have sent them out to some interested Subcommittee members for their evaluation. I wanted to get their opinion on parts quality and text information. Their response has been very positive. What I am asking for is a list of anyone who may be interested in one of these Experimenters Kits. The kit comes with five end caps with o-ring seals, three sections of Lexan tube, and a CD ROM with the text, over 80 photos of construction, and the list of components used.
I also am making the same basic Experimenters kit for the 1/144 Kilo model. This kit comes with four end caps with o-ring seals, four sections of Lexan tube, and a CD ROM with text and photos of my construction plus the list of components used.
The WTC’s are designed to be installed into the hull through the deck opening (No cutting of either hull is required). If I get interest in the kits they will be purchased on a limited (First come first served basis). I have put a few photos of my installations on my homepage. If you would like more info and photos of the kits e-mail me. The price on eith er kit is $75. Thanks, Dave.
:D

Hi Dave
I'm interested in a Kilo experimenter kit.

I know that it's not out yet... but do think that this could be used in the Trumpeter Seawolf?

Thanks

Hi Mike, The Kilo kit is a custom fit for that hull. I think it would be to small for the Seawolf. Not enough WTC air volume to float the hull properly. I also have a Seawolf kit on order and plan to make a WTC for it. If it works out, I may offer a kit for it also. Time will tell. Thanks, Dave.

I have one of Dave's Revell kits.
Due to some personal things, I will be unable to work on it for a bit. But I would like to say after opening that box and seeing what is there,Dave's quality of end caps is impressive. That, the lexan tubes and a cd showing how he got it done is what I got. Like most good ideas, it looks straightforward and simple.
I cannot wait unitl I can get it put together. I also have the photo etch deck for mine too.
Again, good job Dave
