Thinking of selling i19

Have any sub 'stuff' to sell or trade?

Postby ThierryC » Thu Feb 12, 2004 10:00 pm

Hi there

I am thinking of selling my 1/48 i19 as I would like to have a sub to run for the summer and this one requires too much work and details to get it in the water in time.
So I would be selling the hull with about a quarter of the holes done, the tower with the windows cut out and the top openned, the dive planes and rudder.
Also included in the original builders plan in 1/96 scale (in japanese but I have everything translated); 6 fiberglass bulkheads (1/8" thick); 3' of fiberglass tubing (1" diameter); a 12V 7Amps gel-cel; 2 mabushi 550 12V engines; 2 gear-boxes with 1:2.5 reduction; a small 12V compressor (175psi) with digital read-out; 6 copper air tanks (1/2' diameter amd 1' long); 3 one way valves; 2 poppet valves (125psi); 2 brass prop shaft (3/16"); 2 3/16' seals for the prop shafts; 5 1/8' seals for the pushrods, 1 lexan tube 17" long 4" diameter and 1 piece of fiberglass sheet 2'x2' 1/8" thick.

Some of the bulkheads have already been glued in place and the hull has been separated top and bottom at the junction between the hull and hull casing.
I had plans to build this noat into a masterpiece, but I have too many projects right now and I need to get rid of some of the stuff so that I can have time to get a boat in the water for the summer.

I am looking to get around $1000CDN for all of this, or I would be willing to trade for an unbuilt u47 and a couple more dollars.

If you are interested make me an offer, I am open to deals and suggestions.

I canbe contacted by email at: thierryc@rogers.com or on MSN at: thierryc131@hotmail.com

Sorry, Thierry. As a fellow Canuck, I'd have jumped on your boat, but I just bought TankTracks 1:48 I-19 last week.

She'll be modelled as the I-26, which has particular significance to me. She actually shelled Etevan Point here on Vancouver Island in the early part of WWII, the only hostile force to fire upon Canada at that time since the early 1800's.

Is yours an SSY hull?

Hi Bob

The hull is indeed a scale shipyard hull, I was also going to build this one as I26 for the same reasons that you mentionned !
Great minds think alike ! :-)

Well... you know. Those Japanese imports have so little headroom.

Why drive a Toyota when you can drive a BMW?

ha ha ha :D
Would you actually believe that I bought my truck so that my typhoon and i19 would fit in there :p

People don't seem to realise how hard it is to find a vehicule where you can fit an 89" sub
:D

Apparently I looked really funny at the dealership trying to fit a barehull typhoon in various cars and trucks :-)

And Bob, be ready to invest in a Ford Explorer XLT :-)
