UPDATE ON REVELL VII UBOAT!

Static Submarine modelers unite!

Postby Turbobearcat » Fri Oct 03, 2003 6:47 am

:)

Sorry I've been gone for such along time but I should be back without the long breaks! I got word from my shop in Portage
and he said the following:
"The sub should be available first quarter 2004. Looking at January or February. I have sold several and I thank you for getting this started. Very much appreciated! Please tell me again how many you would like. I believe I have you down for two."

Thanks,
Larry Mudie
L&J Hobbies

so it appears that kit will be in the states in Jan or Feb of 04'
and from the website it looks nice.

Hi,

http://www.airfan.de/modellbau/watercraft/NewRevellTypVIIC.htm
just a link I got from the 'Das Boot' yahoo-group. Gives a good impression on the quality of the parts. Click the pic's in the article for a large pic in high res.

With 70 negatives, (3 in the last 7 days), and 23 netural on the feedback I think I'll pass. Waiting would be cheaper.

A mini-review of the new Revell-Germany Type VII model can be found at the following:

http://misc.kitreview.com/shipreviews/typeviicuboatpreviewak_1.htm

The price estimate given is 50 euros. From the remarks of the reviewer, it appears that it will be possible to model either Type VIIb or Type VIIc versions.

Nice pics.

Funny to see the translation of the German word (Seerorh) (Periscope) to Sea pipe ??? :D
See comes from sehen (seeing) but also means sea.
Rohr means tube or pipe.

Ahoy BigJohn ...Tell us which HobbytownUSA you preordered from for that price! According to my sources at Hobbytown USA here in Phoenix, their computer doesn't show 1/72 Type VIIs, but does show U-boats in 1/128 and 1/144. They both run in your $20 plus range. My regular hobby shop here in Tempe shows the $49 price. I'd love to call your supplier, send the telephone number! ???

John ... I just checked with my HobbyTown USA here in Phoenix and using your numbers, they confirmed it and the price of $22! Me thinks they have an error nationally, but just in case, I pre-ordered 2; now lets see what they say when they come in. ???
