This ones for all the Aussies out there. There is a series starting on SBS on Wednesday night called "Inside Australia". It's doing a six part series on the trials and tribulations of the crew of HMAS RANKIN.

First episode was last week. Very good.

P.S they've brought out a very good book on the series too... :)

Indeed it was a good watch! Apparently it's available on DVD too, which I'm going to have to get - the footage shown on TV so far is is excellent (even my kids were enthralled by it)! :D

One interesting point I noted - on the gangway was "Rankin SSG 78", whereas I usually refer to the Collins boats as SSK. Both designations seem to be used regularly, but upon further investigation I note that the RAN has officially designated the Collins boats as SSG's. Any RAN bubbleheads care to clarify the reason for this? (Yes, I am aware they carry Harpoons as well as Mk-48's).
