Disney Nautilus - Dimensions

Nautilus, Seaview, and more

Postby 110-1046744842 » Mon Mar 03, 2003 11:19 pm

In his book, Jules Verne describes the 'Nautilus' very specifically. I have always been fascinated by the Disney/Goff version, which, however, strikes me as being a bit - well, fatter - than the one in the book. Would anybody out there be willing to give a guesstimate of the dimensions of the Disney sub - length, width, displacement?

thanks!

Definitely check out Michael's site. It's an excellent resource for all things Nautilus.

As a short answer to your question, I scaled my 1/32 blueprints and came up with the following dimensions:

Overall length (tip of ram to tail): 177.5'
Overall height (top of wheelhouse to bottom of keel): 37.5'
Overall width (rakertip to rakertip): 30.5'

These are approximate values, rounded to the nearest half foot, but give a fairly accurate representation. I'm sure Will will argue the decimal points :;):

Hope this helps.
