Borei Class Russian Submarine

By now you all know about the newest Russian submarine class the Borei or also known as the Dolgorukiy class. The photos that I have seen have been few and obscure. Here are a few that can give us more detail.

Do you think that they just used a stretched Oscar as a base? The hull shape sure looks like one.

No. It is based upon an Akula hull.

Matt is correct.
The first Borei was completed litterally using an unfinished Akula 971 , sectioning it, and streaching it.
We did the same thing with the boomer the George Washington by sectioning a Skipjack and adding the missle section in the middle.
Akula would be correct. Oscar would not be.

Thanks Wayne, we have been waiting for you to chime in. Do you have any pictures on it that you can share? You usually do. :)
