Book Announcement

Postby Tom Dougherty » Mon Oct 12, 2009 10:02 pm

Well, I was going to post two major announcement releases I just received from Michael, one about how to order the film and one about a book based on the film, but once again our lame image posting system is broken...

Too bad, you guys would have loved it, especially when you see who is writing and publishing the book! I will put them here once we get the %$#& image posting fixed!

Tom, I also got an e-mail announcing the future publication of a book based on the film.
I won't spill the beans here just yet, but let's just say the writer has an outstanding reputation in his field of expertise. So does the publisher, for that matter... Anyone for a calculated guess?

Hi All! :D
I am not sure if this is the same DVD and the title shows up as a movie torrent on a Google search!

Book and Movie Information

Postby Tom Dougherty » Tue Oct 13, 2009 9:50 pm

Once again the lame PostImage.org **** we use for photos refuses to work and post even modest sized images (345 KB). Hence I cannot post the original announcement information about the book or the film.

(Note: the web site automatic censor system has replaced my original colorful description of the PostImage system with stars. The original word was a common word for excrement. How wonderful to have a working censor system- now how about a working image posting system???).

I will try and post the original information once the PostImage system decides to once again allow us to load images

Bottom line on the book is that Naval Institute Press has announced that Norman Polmar will collaborate with Michael White on a book based on the research uncovered during the making of "Azorian: The Raising of the K-129". The book will publish in Fall, 2010.

As you might imagine, the information and interviews with senior project engineers that Michael has on hand were impressive enough for Norman Polmar to decide to write the book on the subject. No more wild "Red Star Rogue" stories; just the straight facts and engineering details about the Glomar Explorer's recovery operation. If you visit the below web site you can see still frames from the film, as well as actual photos of the K-129 wreckage, obtained from the "claw" ("Capture Vehicle" or CV) cameras.

The DVD will be available beginning on Nov 4., 2009. It can be ordered exclusively and directly from Michael White's web site. It's here:

http://www.projectjennifer.at/

I have more information and some cool images on both the book and the movie, that I would love to post. Too bad the system won't allow me!

Yes, I already mentioned that in my postings. But as the saying goes, "the strength of advertising lies in its repetition".. :?

a short review

Postby AntoineL » Mon Nov 09, 2009 10:12 am

Hi gents,

I received my DVD this morning and I just finished watching it.
All I can say is : BUY IT.

The best doc about subs and cold war stories I've ever watched.

You will see things you've always wanted to discover, real footages, what happened exactly, incredibly accurate 3D models...

1h40 of pure dream.

Bye,

Tom,
You should forward this to Michael :)

I did get the dvd. I was watching it, and absolutely love it!
In fact, it was so good, I suffered through acute chest pain for 30 minutes before I shut it off and finally went to the heart hospital !!!
The last 1/3, I have not seen yet,as I have been in the hospital for several days.(No joke, true fact)
But, I just got released and home, going to eat something for thanksgiving, and finish watching the show. Then, likely I will replay it, in entirety.

The actual footage is breathtaking!! Definitely worthwhile!! Incredible story!! Phenomenal video.
Antoine is right. Buy it! Says everything. You will not be sorry.

Yea,
Laid up for a week or so. I started back on the Akula today.
Sincerly, thanks for asking.
Micheal White himself wrote checking on me. Of course, the movie did not actually cause me to go to the hospital. But it was SO GOOD, I am having go-to-the-hospital chest pains, and I put up with it 30 extra minutes, to watch a little more. Finally, it was so bad, off to the E.R. I went.
First thing when I got out, I watched the rest of it. I then gave my copy to a marine engineer for Ocean Engineering. I figure they will really get off on it.
The movie is awsome guys.
And, don't worry, the Zhukov will be on patrol this summer..

There are now 12-15 reviews that we have received on the film at the Azorian web site.
http://www.projectjennifer.at/
Click the "Buy DVD" and the Reviews button on the left side to read them. The book by Norman Polmar based on the film's research along with original research of his own is also now underway. It will be published by Naval Institute Press.

The film has been picked up by Discovery Historia Poland, SBS Australia, and NOGA Channel 8 Israel. Members in those countries should see the film appear shortly on those outlets.

Apparently the release of the film has stirred the CIA to release some information on the project:
see: http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5jKIJCzoMMvMq1oPs48-Rxd0KBStQ

Some senior CIA officials ordered copies of "The Raising of the K-129"...
