Online Action - Sub Sim Sub Command

Place for general submarine conversation

Postby Ramius » Tue Aug 12, 2003 10:56 pm

I have heard the guy that has the subsim site will be at our fun run in texas this weekend.
This made me think,as I have wondered before, how similar we all are.I bet there are many things we also do that is similar.
Like, during the cooler months, when we return to the drydocks for refits and construction, who all fools around with the Sub Command PC game? There are some excellent downloads and adds to this game where we could practice tactics:)
Maybe this fall, some of us could try some online games to test our command skillsagainst each other. Myself,I have not tried it yet,but do own the game.Right now my computor is being reprogramed this week.As part of it,I had the programmer load all the downloads off the internet for Sub Command. This includes a typhoon, which has always interested me.I would like to practice a little while, then,go online "hunting".
It is not to replace what we do,but is related.
So,who all has this game and what do you guys think about going on manuvers?

Back when I used to pen the column "Cybersub" for the 'Report, I was playing online w/688I. Which is the predecessor to Sub Command.

I joined, and subsequently wrote an article about, a group called the SEAWOLVES. They are an online gaming community using Jane's 688(i) Hunter/Killer Combat Simulations, Sub Command, Novalogics Combat Simulations and Microprose Combat Simulations.

I attempted to get other SC members to join, but had no luck. Would have been nice to have our own "Fleet"

Here is their website: http://seawolves.org/

They are quite “intense”.
