Engel Static Depth Controller - Do not understand

Place for general submarine conversation

Postby Rockpile » Thu Jul 03, 2003 12:31 pm

Jaut received the TAES Static Depth Controller upgrade kit from ENGEL.
I am useing the robbe Futabe FC-16 radio System in my 1/32 Fleet Boat and 1/32 Tyoe IX. I have the TAE pistons tanks installed and operating properly in the boats. Execlant trim and submerged running.

I wish to install the (Static Depth Controller) in both boats. Reading the instlation instructions for the unit into the boat is understood.
I do not understand the transmitter setup. As per instructions,
(" The TAES processes four different commands which must be directed individually. Therefore, it is advisable to control the TASE via a proportional shifter on the transmitter").

PLEASE What is a PRORTIONAL SHIFTER )?
I am not able to find any information in the robbe Futaba system Manual.
My system is set up with Twin stick , a Multi-Prop Modul/ Multi-Prop Decoder , Multi-Switch Modul / Multi-Switch Decoder. (2) two Linear poportional channels.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

a proportional shifter could be a slider switch added to your radio.

The TAES system works with the position (course) of this slider :

Full up - surface
full down - "park on the ground" that means the tanks are full
85% - Auto-depth system activated (you must put the slider on "full down" position first before the 85% position)
45% - "auto trim" that means the tanks are 80% (about) full.

A bad drawing of the slider :

_
| | <---- full up
| |
| | <---- 45%
|o|
| | <---- 85%
|_| <---- full down
