American and Eurpean measurements

Place for general submarine conversation

Postby AdriaticSea » Mon Jun 16, 2003 9:58 am

Hello all,

I'm one of the few italian members of the Subcommittee, my name's Mauro, and I'm 16 years old.
I already built a RC car plus a little non RC submarine, and now I'm going to buy a Thordesign Permit hull kit.
I have a problem: you americans use differents measurements than us Europeans...say inches vs centimeters.
To all european members that built a kit from the USA: how did you solve this problem?
For example, a 3/32" drill bit measure here in Italy about 2.3 millimeters...it's nearly impossible to find such a bit!!

I haven't had the problem at all. I did not build a kit (scratch builder) but you can simply buy drills in every size you'd like (in steps of 0,1mm) at a good hardware shop.
Even if you don't round off. 2.3 or 2.5mm is not much of a difference anyway IMHO.
