Can anyone say definitively where the datum is that the tail numbers measure depth to or from? I know that the numbers on the bow indicate depth to the keel. Thanks.

Same as the bow numbers, depth to the keel.

Actually, if I remember right, the marks on the the rudder show depth to the bottom of the rudder which may or may not be in line with the keel. 774 even with keel. 688 deeper than keel.
