New Book- May I recommend to you...

a superb book, "The CIA's Greatest Covert Operation: Inside the Daring Mission to Recover a Nuclear-armed Soviet Sub" written by a key member of the CIA Team that ran the operation, Dr. David Sharp. As many of you know, this is a subject (obsession?) close to my heart, as I was involved in the research for the Michael White "Project Azorian" film as well as the Polmar/White book "Project Azorian: The CIA and the Raising of the K-129". Dr. Sharp (who was also on the Oxcart/A-12 team) was not only involved in the mission design, he was also on board the Glomar Explorer during the summer of 1974 when the recovery took place. This is the ultimate "insiders story" of this incredible operation. In many ways it complements the White/Polmar work, and offers a view (although in some cases still constrained by the CIA Publications Review Board) of the details known only to mission participants. If you have any interest in Cold War submarine operations, I would suggest strongly that you obtain a copy for yourself. Here's the Amazon page, with my review:
