Link: ABC News An ABC film crew visited a Navy submarine crew during its biannual ICEX training exercises in the Arctic, where the military expects to spend more time as climate change opens new opportunities for resource exploration and shipping. "This is a very difficult environment for the submarines to operate in," said Capt. Gregory Ott of the USS Annapolis, a nuclear-powered sub. The Navy constructs a camp of plywood huts on the ice to serve as headquarters during the exercises. ABC's online report includes video as well as photos of the sub crew practicing surfacing through up to three feet of ice.
