Now that I've bitten the bullet and finally joined how do I go about getting my status changed from registered user to member on the forum?

You need to email the board moderator, Jeff Larue at jeffrey.larue@hp.com.

Just let him know your username and SubCommittee membership number and he'll be able to hook you up!

So what are the benefits of becoming a member besides an edit button and a quarterly newsletter?

Gee "Rchter", besides the edit button as you call it and SubCommittee Report each quarter, you get to become a member of the finest, most technical model boating group known and greatest bunch of people I have ever been fortunate to know in any modeling group. What more could you want?

Hi Rcher: :)
One thing I've found is when you go to visit a "real" sub. I went to the Scorpion at the Queen Mary. I started asking about the sub with the guy in charge and when I showed him my SunCommittee card, he knew I was serious. My wife and I received a private, free, tour of the sub and I got to see areas the public does not. I do not know if this would be true for every sub on display and you never know. :;): By the way, he also offered me a job!

Best, Ed
