U-177 Torpedoes - Need Help!!!!

R/C Submarine modelers

Postby U177 » Thu Oct 09, 2003 11:24 pm

Greetings all i am new to this forums and i am looking for some information. I have a Alexander 1:40 Engel U-177 IXD2 U-boat and i am looking for information or avaliable kits for Firing Torpedos.

I have found limited information on the internet about torpedoes but nothing useful to me! What i really need is information on the Torpedoes Construction as well as the launching systems.

Ideally it would be great is a Forum member had a kit or some custom made torpedoes they are willing to sell?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards
Tom

Tom you might want to check out older
issues of the report there is some articles on torp construction and building the launching system for them. as far as kits there is nobody
that makes kits for launching torps.
you have to build it your self..

Hi Tom,

Issue #50 of the SubCommittee Report has an article on how someone built electric (battery) driven torpedoes.

Issue #49 of the SCR has an article on the more common gas-driven (Propel) torpedoes.

-hope this helps,

Jeff

Liability is a major concern from submarine manufacturers.
Perhaps someone can be persuaded to make"display" torpedos in the common scales. Then, where they to be "modified",liability would not be an issue.

Robbe makes scale plastic "display" torpedoes in 1/40th, part number 1-1583 on their website. I don't know if these will work for you or not.
