Sun N Fun '07 - trouble in river city

Postby PaulC » Thu May 31, 2007 4:52 pm

To all hands,

Due to recent rain in central Texas, Lake Georgetown, which feeds into the San Gabriel River, opened its spillways this morning. As a result, the river where we run in the park is now moving fast and is chocolate brown. Therefore we don't expect to be running boats in the San Gabriel this weekend. Public pools are not an option due to being open to the public on weekends.

However, the event has not been canceled. We have other ponds which are options nearby (Old Settlers Pond and Round Rock West Pond). And Gail, Jeff, Tom and I are committed to r/c sub operations this weekend. We will meet as planned at the Holiday Inn Express tomorrow and decide where to run from there.

So, govern yourselves accordingly. If you decide to stay home we understand. If you do come to Georgetown you can check with the desk at the Holiday Inn Express for information as to where the running will occur.

Warm regards,
