Whilst we are on the subject of old AMS members, does anyone know if the following are still active in the model sub world?

Jim Ward, Barnet, Herts (U352)
Brian Stevenson, Sunderland (USS Skipjack)
Vic and Karen Felton, Yorks (various..type V11, Type 23)
Harry and Angie Fox, Sussex (famous for his rubber band subs)
David and John Stevens, South London (Charlie class)

I haven't heard the names mentioned in years now...any info on any of them?

Hi Rich,

I've just checked the current AMS membership list and no joy I'm afraid.

That does not mean anything dramatic - they may have found better things to do!

Davy

PS Try checking the Subcommittee members list too.

I knew Jim Ward, as he used to be a member of Broomfield Scale Model Ship Society, which I was member of until they went mad over scale sail (Thames sailing barges etc.- not my cup of tea).

I remember him coming along with his Type VII, which I later learned was sold onto Bernie Wood, and then converted to a full static diver.

Last I heard of Jim, he'd moved onto model loco's.

None of the other people ring any bells with me.

Jim and I were great mates back in the 80's, shame I lost touch with him.
Harry Fox was the editor of the AMS magazine 'In Depth' for years, he moved from London down to Cooden Beach near me, but I've lost touch with him too.
Vic and Karen were the ones who more or less held the AMS together through it's bad patch, they lived in Doncaster somewhere...Vic built some superb boats, I have photos of his Type 7c and his 21, magnificent models they were.
Dave Stevens and son John lived near Bernie, Dave was well known for his lemonade bottle Charlie class boat, and also his love of builder's skips...he could sniff out a skip at five hundred yards.
Brian Stevenson came from Sunderland way somewhere, he used to run a lovely scratch built Skipjack...he was a close mate of Stewart Bennet, know for his Patrick Henry model.

Andy, if you can find out any more news on Jim's whereabouts nowadays I'd be very grateful.

Unlikely I can help I'm afraid. It was some years ago since I last heard of him, and it must be about 20 years since I last saw him.

Pretty sure he moved away from Barnet though.
