First, I'd like to thank everyone who made the effort to come out to the YMCA Healthy Kids Day in York earlier this month. The kids were very enthusiastic, we had between 65 and 70 of them running the subs. It really is a great way to introduce the next generation to model ship and sub building and operation. Several of the kids told us that they were there looking for us because they remembered us from last year. We had 5 of the SubComEast guys there running boats for 4 hours. Perhaps next year some of the Task Force 50 guys will be able to participate.
The next SubComEast fun run will be Saturday, May 8. We'll be outdoors now for the summer, and this month will be meeting at the pond in Forest Hill MD. We'll get started at 10:00, and run until we decide to call it for lunch. The park and pond are on the south side of E. Jarretsville Rd, about 1/4 mile east of Rock Spring Rd (MD Route 24) in Forest Hill.
Access is easy, the water is just murky enough to look realistic, and it's just a beautiful little park. Come on out and show off those boats!
